Pioneerof the Nile colt goes for $575K Saturday at Keeneland

Pioneerof the Nile had one of the top three colts during Saturday’s session of the Keeneland September Yearling sale, with Zayat Stables going to $575,000 to secure hip No. 1290.

The bay colt was consigned by Paramount Sales and bred in Kentucky by Bloodstock Investments II.

“He obviously had a tremendous way of moving. He handled the sale well–he wasn’t a pushover, but he handled the sale well,” said Patrice Miller, who signed the ticket on behalf of Zayat.

The May 2 foal is out of Keysong, a half-sister to stakes winner Miss Catalyst.

Through the first five days of the auction, which runs through Sept. 25, Pioneerof the Nile has 26 lots sold for an average of $300,385.
