Pioneerof the Nile has top filly Wednesday at Keeneland

Pioneerof the Nile had the top-selling filly during the third day of the Keeneland September Yearling sale when Ruis Racing went to $825,000 to secure hip No. 672.

Consigned by Four Star Sales, agent and bred by Three Chimneys Farm, the dark bay filly is the second foal out of R Gypsy Gold, a two-time stakes winner who also placed in the Mother Goose S. (G1).

“We have always wanted to get a Pioneerof the Nile,” owner/trainer Mick Ruis said. “We were only going to go $550,000, but we had to stretch to get to him.”

Pioneerof the Nile has had two $825,000 yearlings during the first three days of the Keeneland sale, which runs through Sept. 23, with six lots bringing at least $500,000.
