Pioneerof the Nile had one of his best days of his illustrious stallion career Thursday at the Keeneland September Yearling sale when three separate juveniles surpassed the $700,000 mark.
Leading the way was hip No. 986, a filly consigned by Blanford Stud and purchased by John Oxley for $800,000. The filly is out of All Mettle, whose siblings include this year's top distaff sprinter Paulassilverling and two-time Carter H. (G1) winner Dads Caps.
Just behind the day's top seller was hip No. 965, a colt consigned by Hinkle Farms and purchased by Marchmont Stable for $775,000. The colt is the first foal from the Fusaichi Pegasus mare Accessorize.
Frank Brothers, agent for Starlight Stable, went to $700,000 for hip No. 951, consigned by Runnymede Farm, Inc. The bay filly is out of the graded stakes-placed Woodford Belle and from the family of Dubai World Cup (G1) winner Well Armed.
Pioneerof the Nile has been one of the most popular yearling sires of 2017, with 36 lots sold to date, for an average of $380,138.
