Random Walk struts in TDN Rising Star performance

Random Walk, a first-time starter by Super Saver, put on a stellar display in Friday’s first race at Belmont Park, rolling to a 5 3/4-length score in a 5 1/2-furlong maiden special weight contest for 2-year-olds.

The winner was named a TDN Rising Star, the third such for Super Saver, following his 1:03.35 clocking, which was just a second off the track record.

Trained by Rick Violette for Ralph Evans, Random Walk is out of the stakes winner Lunargal, whose siblings include WinStar stallion Astrology, multiple graded stakes winner Lunarpal, and the stakes winner Lunarlady.

Random Walk was consigned to the 2016 OBS March Selected 2-year-old sale, where he was purchased for $300,000 by his owner.

Super Saver’s previous TDN Rising Stars would both go on to win graded stakes, with Competitive Edge taking the Hopeful S. (G1) and Pat Day Mile (G3), and Super Majesty scoring in the Dogwood S. (G3) at Churchill Downs.
