Renaisance Frolic kicks off fall campaign in style

Paynter’s stakes-winning 3-year-old son Renaisance Frolic returned from his summer vacation on Saturday at Gulfstream Park, and responded with a powerful-looking score in the Bear’s Den S.

The win was the second career added money score for Renaisance Frolic, who won the Armed Forces S. as a 2-year-old, also at Gulfstream. Paynter has 11 stakes horses this year, second-most among all Second-Crop Sires.

Though he broke well, Nick Juarez had to take Renaisance Frolic back slightly going into the first turn. Getting a good trip in fourth, it wasn’t until the top of the stretch when Juarez found and opening, and Renaisance Frolic shot through and ultimately took over inside the furlong marker to win pulling away in 1:31.14 for the “about” seven furlongs on the turf.

“I had a perfect trip from the gate. I was sitting behind Miguel Vazquez (on runner-up Gemonteer) the whole time. I had plenty of horse pretty much the entire race. If I had a place to get out, I had it,” said Juarez. “He was much the best today.”

Renaisance Frolic is owned by his breeder Stride Rite Stable.
