Rising Star’ at Belmont for Harlan’s Holiday

A smashing 6 1/4-length maiden special weight debut win Wednesday at Belmont Park earned the 2-year-old Harlan’s Holiday colt Shadow Banking the TDN Rising Star tag for his impressive performance (VIDEO).

Patiently handled by Jose Ortiz, Shadow Banking came from last of five to roll by all his foes with ease, drawing off powerfully in the lane to get the 1 1/16-miles on the firm turf in 1:43.29.

Shadow Banking, owned by Klaravich Stables and William H. Lawrence, is bred to be a top-class turf horse. Bred in Kentucky by Dr. John Chandler, the colt is one of four winners out of the unraced Dynaformer mare Rietondale, whose siblings include the likes of the millionaires and multiple Grade 1 turf-winning duo Cetewayo and Dynaforce, as well as Bowman Mill, a grade 2 winner on the lawn.
