Paynter, a top three freshman weanling sire of 2015, has a total of seven yearlings cataloged in the upcoming Fasig-Tipton July yearling sale, one of the top numbers for a freshman sire represented in the one-day auction.
Consignor Chris Baccari has a pair of Paynter yearlings in the catalog, hips 96 (colt) and hip 260 (filly).
“Paynter has definitely impressed me,” Baccari said. “The yearlings I’ve seen look like good Awesome Agains (Paynter’s sire). The ones that I have maybe have a little more leg than Awesome Agains do.”
Hip 96 is out of Vertical Vision, a two-time stakes winner of $202,000, while hip 260’s stakes-winning dam Indian Legend banked $294,550.
Other Paynter highlights include hip 97 a filly out of the Bernardini mare Villa, sister to millionaire Critical Eye; hip 106, a colt out of Yattasmokem, whose third dam Vertigineux is the dam of the immortal Zenyatta and millionaire Balance.
The Fasig-Tipton auction begins at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 12.
