Speightster filly goes gate-to-wire in $250,000 Princess Elizabeth S.

Dreaming of Drew’s stellar performance in Saturday’s $250,000 Princess Elizabeth S. at Woodbine netted the 2-year-old Speightster filly her first stakes win and giving her top-10 First-Crop sire his second stakes winner.

After two very good turf stakes outings, Dreaming of Drew switched back to the main track Saturday for her two-turn debut. She immediately sprinted to the lead out of the gate, leading the field through a half-mile in :48.71. Bodacious Miss made a run at her on the turn, but she quickly shook clear and was in full control in the stretch, winning by 3 3/4-lengths in 1:44.07.

“She’s a dream,” said trainer Barb Minshall. “She’s been a great filly for us and I’m really looking forward to the future with her. Hopefully, she’ll be an Oaks contender next year.”
Dreaming of Drew is now 2-2-0 in five starts and has earned $202,832 for Hoolie Racing Stable. Bred by WinStar Farm, Dreaming of Drew is out of Arlington-Washington Lassie S. (G3) winner Dreaming of Liz.
Speightster continued to be one of the most popular young stallions in the U. S., breeding 152 mares in 2020. His 2021 fee was recently announced at $10,000 S&N.
