Speightstown distaffer triumphs in stakes debut

Mayas Queen Neetee won her fourth straight start with a three-length victory in Sunday’s $75,000 Vivacious H. at Belterra Park, the first stakes win for the daughter of Speightstown. She is Speightstown’s 11th stakes winner and 18th stakes horse this year.

Drawing post 1 for the Vivacious, Mayas Queen Neetee broke well and set just a length off the lead under Luis Colon. Biding his time until there was a quarter-mile to run, Colon swung his mount around Floral Sky and accelerated powerfully in the stretch to win impressively in 1:42.32 for the 1 1/16-miles on the firm turf (VIDEO).

The winner, owned by Loooch Stable, has won four of nine starts and earned $110,192. Her dam, The Niagara Queen, won the Grade 2 Dance Smartly S. and earned $581,172.
