Fairchild, a 4-year-old daughter of Speightstown, was a decisive winner of Lone Star Park’s $150,000 Wasted Tears S. on July 16, drawing off in the stretch to win the 1 1/16-mile turf race by 3 ¼-lengths.
For Speightstown, the filly is one of his six stakes winners this year and pushed the top-10 General sire to nearly $7.5 million in progeny earnings to date.
Fairchild was never far off the lead as she sat in third through a half-mile in :47.92. She was nearly on even terms with pacesetter Pretty in Pink after six furlongs, then took command of the race shortly after that. A strong stretch run finished up the race in 1:42.83 on the firm turf.
Fairchild is 2-2-2 in seven starts for her owner/breeder Stonestreet Stables LLC.
Fairchild's dam Samantha Nicole is a full-sister to Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra and has a 2-year-old filly named Alexa Lou by Speightstown.
