Speightstown kicks off Keeneland Book 2 with $700,000 colt

After finishing Book 1 of the Keeneland September Yearling sale with his usual strong results, Speightstown picked right up when Book 2 started on Friday with a $700,000 colt, one of the top 10 individuals during the session.

The bay colt, hip No. 679, was consigned by Gainesway, agent, and went to the big-name duo of Solis and Litt. His dam, Tokyo Time, was graded stakes-placed and is a half-sister to the More Than Ready filly Hungry Island, a multiple Grade 2 winner, Grade 3 winner Soaring Empire, and Flying Dixie, the dam of this year’s Woodward S. (G1) winner Preservationist.

Speightstown had a total of 100 lots cataloged in the two-week sale, with 72 yet to go through the auction ring after Friday’s results.
