Storm Belt surges to victory at Meydan

More Than Ready’s stakes-placed son Storm Belt moved into the ranks of stakes winners with a comfortable 6 1/4-length victory in the $75,000 Entisar S. at Meydan Racecourse in Dubai on Dec. 15.

Held over 2000m (about 1 1/4-miles), The Entisar had a full field of 12 older runners.Ridden by Fernando Jara, Storm Belt stalked the speed early before shooting through a gap on the rail about three furlongs from home. The result was never in doubt afterwards and it was an impressive performance.

“We had a lovely clear passage and the gap appeared when I wanted,” said Jara. “He responded immediately when I asked him.

“He has plenty of good form in the book looking back but has really stepped up here and could well build on this.”

Based in the Middle East, 7-year-old Storm Belt had three stakes placings prior to his victory Thursday and has now earned $197,748 for his owner/breeder Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum.

Storm Belt is More Than Ready’s 169th lifetime stakes winner. The WinStar stallion will stand at the farm next year for a fee of $60,000 live foal.
