Summer Applause, Harlan’s Holiday’s leading earner of 2013, earned her third stakes win of the year with a powerful victory in Sunday’s $75,000 Lady’s Secret S. at Monmouth Park (VIDEO).
With wins earlier in the year in the Grade 2 Top Flight H. and Grade 3 Allaire Dupont Distaff S., Summer Applause is one of 11 stakes winners by Harlan’s Holiday who have accounted for 17 stakes wins in 2013. Both figures rank in the top 5 on the General Sire list.
Summer Applause, the heavy 2-5 favorite in the 1 1/16-mile affair, ran to her odds, coming to from just off the lead to take over after six furlongs, then pulling clear to coast home a lengths and a quarter winner.
Owned by Greenwood Lodge Farm Inc. (also her breeder), Gillian Campbell, Dan Clark and Greg Skoda, Summer Applause improved her career mark to 6-2-0 from 13 starts, earning $654,906.
