Super Saver colt rings up 100 Beyer

Runhappy rolled to a five-length victory Tuesday evening at Indiana Downs in a very quick 1:09.82 for six furlongs, earning a 100 Beyer Speed Figure in just the third lifetime start for the 3-year-old son of Super Saver.

Super Saver’s 25 winners this year, led by multiple stakes winner Competitive Edge, ranks in the top 10 on the Second Crop Sire list.

Owned by Jim McIngvale, Runhappy was nominated to this year’s Triple Crown following a stellar 8-length debut maiden special weight victory in late December. After a very rough trip in Fair Grounds’ LeComte (G3) in January, he was given some time off and switched to Maria Borell’s barn, where he has thrived of late, turning in three bullet works over the past month.

At Indiana Downs, Runhappy, went right to the lead and never relinquished it, widening his margin in the stretch to win authoritatively.

With the win, Runhappy has taken two of his three starts and earned $36,800. The Kentucky bred out of Bella Jolie was purchased by McIngvale for $200,000 out of the 2013 Keeneland September Yearling sale.
