Tiznow filly rings up $1.1M at KEESEP

Tiznow had one only two horses sell for seven figures during the third day of the Sept. 8-21 Keeneland September yearling sale, with a filly bringing $1.1 million from high bidder Dr. Christoph Berglar of Stonereath Farm.

Hip No. 549 was bred in Kentucky by celebrity chef Bobby Flay and was consigned by Arthur Hancock’s Stone Farm.

“We bought her to race here in the United States,” Berglar said. “Although this filly is likely destined to join the Stonereath broodmare band after a stint with trainer Graham Motion. We’re looking forward to her racing career, hopefully we’ll enjoy that.”

The filly is the first foal out of the graded stakes-placed Storm Cat mare Countess Lemonade. She is a half-sister European champion older horse Duke of Marmalade as well as English highweight 3-year-old Ruler of the World.

With an average of $319,545 through the first three days of the sale, Tiznow is in the top five of all sires with at least 10 horses sold.
