Tiznow filly strikes big in career debut at Santa Anita Park

Flor de La Mar, a $500,000 Saratoga Yearling in 2018, cruised to a five-length victory in her unveiling Jan. 20 at Santa Anita to become the 14th lifetime TDN Rising Star for her sire Tiznow [WATCH RACE].

She joins an illustrious roster to Tiznow’s Rising Stars that includes champion 2-year-old filly Folklore, multiple Grade 1-winning millionaire Colonel John, and Grade 1 2-year-old Sporting Chance.

Sent away the heavy favorite for trainer Bob Baffert and Godophin Racing, Flor de La Mar broke on top, settled back into third, then came on again while three-wide on the turn and drew off with ease in the stretch to win by five lengths in 1:17.45 for the 6 1/2-furlongs.

Flor de La Mar was bred by the Don Alberto Corporation and is the second foal out of Old Hat S. (G3) winner Sacristy.
