Top filly for Harlan’s Holiday at FT sale

A filly by Harlan’s Holiday brought $200,000 during day 1 of the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic sale of 2-year-olds in training, the top price for a distaffer during the session. For 2012, the Harlan’s Holiday juveniles have averaged $108,421 at auction, more than four times his stud fee.

Hip No. 156 was consigned by Niall Brennan Sales, agent, and purchased by Charles Cella, owner of Oaklawn Park. The dark bay Kentucky bred filly is out of Ruby Surprise, winner of the Grade 2 Humana Distaff S. at Churchill Downs and the Grade 3 Turfway Breeders’ Cup S. She is the dam of multiple stakes winner Free Flying Soul, who also placed in the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint (G1).
