Torrid Hold for More rolls in Minnesota Derby

Hold Me Back’s multiple stakes winner looked unstoppable once again on Saturday evening as he easily annexed the $80,000 Minnesota Derby by three lengths, running his winning streak to six straight, four of them in stakes.

Hold for More dueled with Steviefromstanley in the stretch, drawing off late to win by three lengths, covering the one mile and 70 yards in 1:43.91 on a fast track.

“He broke pretty good, but there was a lot of speed that went out there. So, I just dropped him in,” winning rider Butler said. “He raced himself. He kind of just stays there. When I kind of eased him out and got him in the clear, he just took off.”

The 3-year-old has now won six of seven career starts and $209,900 in purses. The bay is owned by Dale Schenian of South St. Paul, Minn. and is trained by Francisco Bravo.

Hold for More is one of Hold Me Back’s six black-type horses this year. The WinStar stallion is available this season for $2,500 for mares on southern hemisphere time.
