Tourist’s Cojo scores front-running win

Cojo took the lead in the first furlong of his maiden win on Dec. 17 at Los Alamitos, winning by 1 1/2-lengths to become Tourist 13th First-Crop winner and second of the week.

Catbernay came away from the gate in the lead, but Cojo quickly collared him and took command. He cleared off from the field on the turn and held his advantage comfortably to the wire.

Bred in California by Richard Barton Enterprises, Cojo races for his breeder. The dark bay comes from the same family as Grade 1 winner Lord Zada.

Tourist’s first crop has won on dirt, turf and synthetic, with Indy Tourist placing in the $500,000 More Than Ready Juvenile S. at Kentucky Downs. Tourist 2021 fee will be $5,000 S&N.
