The Last Great Son of Harlan’s Holiday

Good Samaritan is set to become the latest top sire in a long line of sons of Harlan's Holiday at stud. A Graded stakes winner on the turf at 2, the $1.3 million earner displayed his versatility in Saratoga's Jim Dandy S. (G2), his first start on the dirt, when he defeated winners of both the Kentucky Derby [G1] and Preakness S. [G1]. The WinStar Farm-homebred would go on to capture the New Orleans H. [G2] at 4 with a rousing last-to-first stretch run. A direct descendant of two of most influential sire lines in history—Storm Cat and A. P. Indy—Good Samaritan provides a unique opportunity for the modern breeder.

"He's a quality, beautiful horse, and he's run some high-quality races on dirt and turf."—WinStar CEO Elliott Walden after the New Orleans H. (G2) win

“Good Samaritan is an under-the-radar first-crop stallion to watch. He's a horse that would dirtturflonganything. He’s by Harlan’s Holiday. If we’re all, years from now, saying ‘Gosh,’ it wouldn’t surprise anybody. That horse has all the credentials, and again, this is a really, really strong group that I feel has a lot of depth overall.— Zach Madden, Buckland Sales, DRF
