Trojan Tale prevailed in spirited battle with Diamond Dust to win the $100,000 Best of Ohio Sprint S. by a neck on Saturday afternoon at Mahoning Valley.
A 3-year-old old son of Outwork, Trojan Tale has an impressive three stakes wins and six overall victories in just 11 lifetime starts for his owner/breeder William Butler.
With his far outside post in the field of 13 going six furlongs, Trojan Tale was hung five-wide on the backstretch. A four-wide move on the turn put him head-to-head at the front with Diamond Dust at the top of the stretch. The duo traded spots down the lane, with Trojan Tale proving narrowly best at the wire.
Trojan Tale has now earned $243,208.
A top-10 sire of his class, Outwork has five stakes horses this year. Most notably the filly Brightwork, the winner of the Spinaway S. (G1) who is pre-entered in this Friday’s Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1).
WinStar recently announced Outwork’s 2024 fee at $10,000 S&N.
