Tio Gangue drew off very impressively in the stretch to win the Clasico Agustin Mercado Reveron (G1) at Camarero Racetrack in Puerto Rico on Dec. 15, the first stakes win for the 2-year-old Congrats colt. Annually among the leading sires of winners worldwide, Congrats has 156 to date this year, which is currently fourth-best on the General Sire list. Tio Gangue is one of his three graded winners this year, along with Pat on the Back (G2 Kelso H.) and Harvey Wallbanger (G3 Holy Bull S.). Tio Gangue, who was last for the first half of the 1 1/16-mile trip, made a big move on the turn and cruised to the front in upper stretch and was never threatened as he cruised through the lane to win going away. The winner is owned by CJ Stable PR 2 and was bred by Farm III Enterprises LLC. The dark bay is from the same family as Behrens, who earned more than $4 million and won seven graded stakes.
