WinStar Farm announces 2027 stallion roster and fees

WinStar Farm has set 2027 stud fees for its stallion roster, headed by Life Is Good who will stand for $125,000 S&N, and Constitution who will stand the upcoming breeding season for $110,000 S&N. The roster will be further bolstered by recently retired G1 winner Tappan Street who will stand his initial season at stud for $15,000 S&N.

“We’re so excited to announce our 2027 roster led by Life Is Good and Constitution,” said Liam O’Rourke, WinStar’s Director of Bloodstock Services. “The incredible start for Life Is Good has only strengthened our optimism that he can reach the top echelons of the stallion ranks. Constitution has had another tremendous year with Grade 1 winner American History among many graded stakes horses. Tappan Street is an elite son of Into Mischief who is getting rave reviews from breeders. We believe there is strength, value, and excitement at all points of our roster and our team looks forward to working with breeders across the country this year.”

Life Is Good, by Into Mischief, is the leading Freshman Sire by graded stakes winners, graded stakes horses, and G1 winners. Sire of a G1 winner from his initial crop to race, Life is Good is the fastest sire to ever reach five TDN Rising Stars and tied with Constitution and Kingman (GB) for the most first-crop 2YO TDN Rising Stars of all time.

Already represented by exceptional talent on the track, Life Is Good’s first-crop runners are making headlines. His 12 winners to date include The Good Life, a TDN Rising Star who stormed to a dominant four-length victory in the Grade 1 Hopeful Stakes a Saratoga to remain perfect in two starts, and dual stakes winner Waggley, victorious in both the $250,000 Kentucky Juvenile Stakes and the $100,000 Prairie Gold Juvenile Stakes. Life Is Good has bred 763 mares over his first four crops, including 197 in 2026, creating a significant pipeline of well-bred runners to come over the next several years.

Constitution is the No. 6 General Sire this season. He boasts progeny earnings of more than $13 million with 33 black-type horses and 11 black-type winners. His leading runners include 2-year-old American History, impressive winner of the G1 Breeders’ Futurity at Keeneland and a principal contender for the G1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile; Supercharger, winner of the G2 Secretariat S.; Luv Your Neighbor, winner of the G3 Delaware Oaks; and Harrodsburg, victorious in the G3 Bango S.

A powerhouse on the racetrack and in the sales ring, Constitution continues to command top market attention. His 2026 yearling offerings are highlighted by sales of $1.45 million, $1 million, $825,000, etc. Demonstrating exceptional consistency at the highest levels, Constitution stands as one of only four active stallions in North America to sire million-dollar yearling colts every year for five consecutive years. Further cementing his legacy, Constitution is an emerging sire-of-sires, represented by multiple Grade 1 sire Tiz the Law, a Top 10 General Sire this year.

Tappan Street, decisive winner of the 2025 G1 Florida Derby, is a son of Into Mischief. In just his third career start, Tappan Street delivered a statement victory in the $1 million Florida Derby, becoming the only horse to defeat subsequent Horse of the Year Sovereignty during his 3-year-old campaign. Powering home to win by 1 ¼ lengths over next-out G1 Kentucky Derby winner Sovereignty, Tappan Street covered 1 1/8 miles in a rapid 1:49.27. The clocking was the fastest nine furlongs by a 3-year-old at Gulfstream Park in 2025, and faster than recent Florida Derby winners Commandment, Forte, White Abarrio, and Tiz the Law.

Bred on the Into Mischief/Distorted Humor cross that has resulted in sires such as Life Is Good and Practical Joke, Tappan Street was a $1 million graduate of the 2023 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Select Yearling Sale. His dam, Virginia Key, by Distorted Humor, is Grade 2-placed and a half-sister to Grace Adler, winner of the G1 Del Mar Debutante, and G3 Pimlico Special winner and multiple Grade 1-placed Pyrenees.

Freshman sire Nashville, who has racked up 14 first-crop winners thus far, will stand for $10,000 S&N. His first runners are led by stakes-placed Gypsy Lullaby, a maiden special weight winner and runner-up in the Dolley Madison S., and maiden special weight winners Soldier’s Glory, Georgie’s Warrior, Philly Ruckus, Bettabe Tough, and Tigardo. Nashville has proved to be an extremely popular stallion with 570 mares bred between his first four books.

Third-generation WinStar homebred Patch Adams will stand for $25,000 S&N. The speedy son of Into Mischief reeled off back-to-back Grade 1 wins last year at three, winning the G1 Woody Stephens S. and the G1 H. Allen Jerkens Memorial S. His female family is replete with graded stakes winners, including Grade 1 winners Well Armed, Cyberknife, Played Hard, and American Patriot. Patch Adams was bred to 183 mares this year and will have first foals in 2027.

Cogburn, by No. 1 General Sire Not This Time, will stand for $20,000 S&N. Cogburn set a North American record for 5 ½ furlongs on turf in winning the G1 Jaipur S., sizzling the distance in :59.80, registering a 114 Beyer, the fastest figure of 2024. He also won the G2 $2 million Turf Sprint Stakes at Kentucky Downs, completing six furlongs in 1:07.68, just 0.27 seconds off the course record. His first weanlings sold for $130,000, $100,000, etc. at this week’s Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Fall Mixed Sale.

Like Patch Adams, standout sprinters Mullikin and Straight No Chaser will also welcome first foals in 2027. Both stallions will be offered at a fee of $10,000 S&N in the coming year. Mullikin won the G1 Forego Stakes and the G2 John A. Nerud Stakes and recorded four triple-digit Beyers—106, 105, 104, 102—during his racing career. He defeated 26 graded stakes winners, including Eclipse Champion Sprinter Book ‘em Danno, and G1 winners Gun Pilot and Raging Torrent. Mullikin covered 192 mares in his first season.

Straight No Chaser, a globetrotting grandson of Speightstown, was named Eclipse Champion Male Sprinter in 2024 after a victory in the G1 Breeders’ Cup Sprint at Del Mar. He also won the $2 million G2 Riyadh Dirt Sprint in Saudi Arabia and ran a career-best 107 Beyer in taking the six-furlong G3 Maryland Sprint Stakes in stakes-record time of 1:08.27. Straight No Chaser was bred to 96 mares this year.

As the Breeders’ Cup draws near, Audible could be represented once again by Splendora, winner of last year’s G1 Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint and a candidate for this year’s G1 Breeders’ Cup Distaff. Splendora has rattled off stakes wins this year in the G1 Beholder Mile, G2 Locust Grove S., G2 Molly Pitcher S., G2 Shawnee S., and the G2 D. Wayne Lukas S. Audible will stand for $7,500 S&N.
