WinStar was founded on a dream in 2000 by friends and business partners, Kenny Troutt and Bill Casner. What started as a 400-acre property – the former Prestonwood Farm – has grown to over 2,500 acres and is home to nearly 700 horses. WinStar started with just 4 stallions, one of which happened to be a young, unproven Distorted Humor who went on to sire 4 champions. A lot like Distorted Humor, WinStar had a humble beginning, but now competes at the highest level of racing, is home to elite stallions such as Speightstown and Constitution, and brilliant broodmares, which helped earn the farm two Eclipse awards for Outstanding Breeder in 2016 and 2020. We attribute our success to our dedication to the horse, from birth through retirement. Our commitment to the horse and our wider community is at the core of our mission statement, “The WinStar family strives to glorify God by raising superior horses, using the most caring and innovative practices, while loving our neighbors as ourselves, whether employees, clients, or vendors.” WinStar aims to be a guiding light not only in the thoroughbred industry, but also to our community.
