Artie Schiller adds to growing black-type list

Sadir, a 4-year-old colt by Artie Schiller, emerged victorious in the Classic Augusto Maggiolo Cavenecia S. at Peru’s leading racetrack, Monterrico on April 8. Artie Schiller currently ranks in the top 15 among North American third-crop sires, with Mr. Commons, winner of the Grade 2 Arcadia H., his leading earner this year.

Going 1,500 meters, about 7 furlongs, Sadir broke near the rear of the field and waited in the back until straightening for home. Coming down the center of the track in the last 200 meters, Sadir rolled by the frontrunners to get up by a half-length on the wire in 1:27 1/5.

Sadir was bred in Kentucky by Jack Chamblin and is owned by Soribel Stud. The victory was the sixth in 20 starts for Sadir, and his first career added-money win.
