Motion to Appeal sauntered to a half-length victory in the $77,500 Leemat S. at Presque Isle Downs [VIDEO] to become the latest stakes winner for his sire Bellamy Road. The WinStar Farm stallion has been ranked in the top 15 for each of his three crops to race, and has continued that trend this year with Grade 3 Lexington S. winner All Squared Away his top earner of 2012.
Making his first added-money start of the year, Motion to Appeal was set to run right from the break. Allowed to set a controlled pace of 48 seconds flat for the half-mile, the dark bay 4-year-old was challenged on the turn by Ryan’s Gift, but had plenty in reserve for the stretch drive and held his foe at bay for the final quarter mile. The winner completed the mile in 1:37.49.
