Buoyed by a colt that brought an even $1 million during Monday’s session of the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Yearling sale, Life Is Good closed the session with a robust average of $617,000 from five lots sold.
Consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency for breeder Mt. Joy Stables, the winning bidder for hip No. 70 was Japanese trainer Mitsu Nakauchida.
“He’s by good stallion,” Nakauchida said. “He’s not as proven yet, but I like Life Is Good. And I saw a few of them last year and as 2 year-olds and they are training good. So I think he’s going to be a good stallion in the future.”
The bay colt is the second foal out of Seabrook, a daughter of graded stakes-place Regia Marina. This is the family of Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) winner and champion Midshipman and the late multiple Grade 1 winner Frosted.
The Saratoga sale concludes Tuesday evening. Life Is Good has three individuals scheduled to sell during the session.
Life Is Good is the leading First-Crop sire by both stakes horses and graded stakes horses and is second on the list by progeny earnings.
