$700,000 colt kicks off Saratoga sale for Constitution

Leading Fourth-Crop sire Constitution had one of the most sought-after colts during Monday’s session of the Saratoga Yearling sale when hip No. 66 was purchased for $700,000.

Lynnhaven Racing was the winning bidder for the colt from the Gainesway consignment.

The bay colt’s dam, Argentine-bred Sand Puce, won a remarkable 11 graded stakes in her home country and is a half-sister to a multiple stakes winner. She has produced one foal to race, a winner in Chile.

Constitution leads all Fourth-Crop sires in 2022 with 24 black-type horses and 13 graded stakes horses. His top runners this year include San Juan Capistrano S. (G3) winner Breakpoint (CHI) and Peter Pan S. (G3) winner We The People.

Monday’s overall results for Constitution finished with four lots sold for an average of $361,250.
