Constitution’s American History remains undefeated after Breeders’ Futurity (G1) thriller

American History got the lead in the final yards of Saturday’s Breeders’ Cup ‘Win and You’re In’ Claiborne Breeders’ Futurity (G1) at Keeneland to keep the 2-year-old Constitution colt undefeated in his young career.

Facing a strong field that included fellow TDN ‘Rising Stars’ Coach Pope and Q B Rocket, American History was tardy out of the gate and last of six around the first turn. Down the backstretch, American history made his way to third with six lengths to make up on Q B Rocket and Coach Pope, who had battled for the lead throughout.

Still five lengths in arrears at the top of the short stretch, American History managed to steadily advance on the leaders and surged past in the final strides to win by a length in 1:44.88 on a fast track.

“I think a lot of us lost our voices cheering him home,” said Gerry Duffy, President and CEO of winning co-owner WinStar Farm. “My what a finish–two great horses out in front, and he just ran his heart out for us today and won a very important race. We’re very grateful.”

A 7 ¾-length maiden special weight winner in his Aug. 22 debut at Saratoga, American History has earned $461,213 for owners WinStar Farm LLC, First Go Racing and CHC, Inc. A $825,000 2025 Keeneland September purchase, American History was bred in Kentucky by Alpha Delta Stables, LLC.
