Constitution has top filly Thursday at Keeneland

Constitution had top-priced filly of Thursday’s session of the 2020 Keeneland September Yearling sale when hip No. 904 brought a winning bid of $725,000.

Consigned by Kitty Taylor’s Warrendale Sales, agent, on behalf of breeders Sandra Sexton and Silver Fern Farm, the dark bay filly went to agent Alex Solis II and Jason Litt on behalf of LNJ Foxwoods.

“She stood out [among the Constitutions] and that’s what I heard from everybody,” Taylor said. “She vetted and the physical matched. She was one of the better-pedigreed Constitutions. But [the sire] is on his way.”

The Kentucky-bred is out of Candy Forture, making her a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Hog Creek Hustle and multiple stakes winner Majestic Dunhill.

Constitution is the nation’s leading Second-Crop sire with progeny earnings of more than $4.7 million to date. Among his 10 stakes horses is Belmont S. (G1) and Travers S. (G1) winner Tiz the Law and San Clemente S. (G2) winner Laura’s Light.
