$850K Distorted Humor colt at Kee Day 2

Distorted Humor had one of the star offerings at the 2013 Keeneland September Yearling sale on Sept. 10, the second day of the auction, when a colt by the WinStar stallion brought a winning bid of $850,000, the third-highest price paid for a colt during the session.

Consigned by Lane’s End, agent, as hip No. 360, the colt was bought by Shadwell Estate Company, Ltd. The chestnut yearling is out of the More Than Ready mare Ready’s Gal, a three-time graded stakes winner whose only other foal to race, Grade 3 Derby Trial winner Machen, is also by Distorted Humor.

Through the first two days of the prestigious sale, Distorted Humor is the leading sire of the auction by average sale price, with five horses sold for an average of $480,000 and none of his offerings bringing less than $250,000.
