WinStar training and sales grad Pinball made it two straight at Aqueduct on Sunday with a runaway 7 1/4-length victory at one mile and 70 over the inner dirt track (VIDEO
). The 4-year-old colt broke his maiden by 3 1/2-lengths exactly a month ago at the same distance.
Breaking sharply from post 2 in the first-level allowance contest, Pinball avoided trouble on the outside that caused two horses to lose their riders. The Bill Mott trainee was up about a half-length after six furlongs when he had to steady from one of the riderless horses. Junior Alvarado gathered his mount, and coming into the stretch, he quickly cleared from his closest pursuer Snap Call to draw away to an easy win. The final time of 1:42.90 was good for a career-best Beyer Speed Figure of 91.
Pinball, by Unbridled's Song out of the Landaluce S. winner Pinata, was prepped and sold by WinStar Racing, agent, at the 2012 Keeneland November sale. The winning bid of $185,000 came from Jane Buchanan, agent for Michael Dubb, who co-owns the gray or roan colt with Bethlehem Stables LLC, Gary Aisquith, and Stuart Grant.
The victory was worth $34,200 to Pinball's owners, pushing his lifetime mark to $97,500. He has hit the board in all five of his lifetime starts.
