Leading freshman sire Pioneerof the Nile saw his seventh 2-year-old reach the winner’s circle from his first crop when his filly Zibby Do broke her maiden Sunday at Arlington Park. Pioneerof the Nile ranks as the co-leader by winners among freshman sires, and he remains in the thick of the hunt at the top of the Earnings list heading into the Fall.
A homebred in Illinois for Suzanne Stables, Zibby Do broke sharply and showed good speed to lead throughout. She was never headed and opened up to a 2 ¼-length win on the wire, running a mile in 1:39 4/5. Trained by Larry Rivelli, the dark bay filly is out of the Fantastic Light mare Fanfest (GB).
