Princess Cecilia gets third career stakes win

Sharp Humor’s Princess Cecilia, a two-times stakes winner in 2010 as a juvenile, got her first added money win of this year with a two-length score in the $85,000 West Virginia Board of Tourism Breeders’ Classic Oct. 15 at Charles Town Races.

The 3-year-old filly is one of 10 stakes horses for her sire, who is on the cusp of the top 10 among all second-crop sires. His black-type runners are split almost evenly among colts and fillies, with the distaffer Mildly Offensive, winner of the $100,000 Santa Paula S., his top earner this year.

Princess Cecilia prompted the pace of the seven furlong Breeders’ Classic from the outset, sitting in second until just outside the quarter pole, when she asserted herself to hold the other contenders at bay.

Princess Cecilia has an impressive 5-1-0 lifetime mark from seven starts. She has earned $173,880 for co-owners Barbara Armstrong and Gavin-Ty Racing LLC. She is out of the stakes placed mare Cecilia’s Crown.
