Tiznowforamerica victorious on Labor Day

Tiznowforamerica dug deep to capture a 2-year-old maiden special weight contest Sept. 2 at Saratoga in the second outing for the Tiznow colt.

Tiznow’s progeny have had a terrific run over the past week, with nine different winners, topped by Strong Mandate’s stellar victory in the Grade 1 Hopeful S., also at Saratoga on Labor Day.

TiznowforAmerica broke quickly to take the lead, opening up by three lengths and preserving a similar margin, until deep stretch, when he held off  a belated charge by runner-up Harpoon.

The winner banked $48,000 for his owners St. Elias Stable and West Point Thoroughbreds. The partnership was the winning bidder for the colt at the 2013 Keeneland April 2-year-old sale, going to $150,000 for the bay colt bred in Kentucky by Casner Racing, LP.

Tiznowforamerica is the second foal out of Papa to Kinzie, a three-time winner who placed Grade 2 Santa Ynez S.
