WinStar Farm will shoot for their second Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) on Saturday at Churchill Downs when the multiple Grade 1 winner Yoshida goes postward in the $6 million championship.
WinStar, who won the 2011 Classic at Churchill with Drosselmeyer, co-owns Yoshida with China Horse Club, SF Racing LLC and Head of Plains Partners.
Yoshida’s first Grade 1 win this year came at Churchill, but on the grass in the Turf Classic (G1) on Derby Day. In his first dirt start of his career, he won the Sept. 1 Woodward S. (G1) at Saratoga in an extremely impressive performance.
The 4-year-old son of Heart’s Cry (JPN), trained by Bill Mott, drew post 10 in the 14-horse field. He’ll be ridden by Jose Ortiz, who was aboard for the Turf Classic win.
Post time for the Classic, race 11, is 5:44 p.m. ET. The race will be televised live on NBC.
