A colt from the first crop of Grade 1 winner Outwork brought a winning bid of $380,000 during Wednesday’s session of the OBS 2-year-olds in Training sale, the top figure of the day thus far for a freshman sire.
The bay juvenile had plenty of pre-sale buzz following his 10 seconds flat work during the Under Tack Show. Consigned by Pike Racing, agent, hip No. 358 went to Mike Ryan, agent.
The Kentucky-bred is out of the Speightstown mare Riding Point, who is a half-sister to graded winner Onus, while his second dam, the unraced Silviculture, has five graded stakes-winning siblings.
Outwork, a son of Uncle Mo and winner of the Wood Memorial (G1), entered stud at WinStar Farm in 2017. After breeding more than 400 mares in his first three seasons, he is standing this year for $15,000, stands and nurses.
