Hear the Queen capped her 2025 campaign with a victory in the $100,000 Pago Hop S. Dec. 27 at Fair Grounds, defeating Cheetah Lady by a length to give the 3-year-old daughter of Audible her first stakes win.
Audible, who will stand for $7,500 S&N in 2026, is the sire of 2025 Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint (G1) winner Splendora and is a top-five Third-Crop sire by stakes horses, winners and progeny earnings.
After getting bumped at the start, Hear the Queen settled in fourth along the fence, with Ninth Island and Caviar Breakfast battling for the lead through the first five furlongs. Just before turning for home, Hear the Queen moved off the fence and took aim at Ninth Island, The eventual winner took command in upper stretch and held off the late charge of Cheetah Lady to finish in 1:43.31 on the firm turf.
“I was in a perfect spot saving ground,” jockey Marcelino Pedroza, Jr. said. “I knew I could follow the two leaders from there and wait for my time to strike. When (Caviar Breakfast) vacated her position out of the turn, I took the spot out and my filly responded really well at the end.”
With her win Saturday, Hear the Queen is now 4-1-1 in nine starts and has earned $225,831 for the owner/breeder duo of Miacomet Farm (William Harrigan) & Michael A Pietrangelo. Hear the Queen’s third dam is the incomparable Leslie’s Lady, dam of Beholder, Into Mischief and Mendelssohn.
