Splendora and Moonlight, in the Breeders’ Cup Distaff (G1) and Dirt Mile (G1) respectively, give Audible a solid one-two punch in Saturday’s races at Keeneland.
Splendora brings a three graded stakes winning streak into Saturday’s 1 1/8-mile race that drew a field of nine. Winner of last year’s Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint, Splendora will attempt to join an illustrious group of horses that have won two different Breeders’ Cup races.
The Bob Baffert-trained 5-year-old has been brilliant throughout her career, with a record of 10-4-0 in 16 starts and earnings of $1,843,700 for owners Boyd Racing LLC and By Talla Racing. She was bred by The Elkstone Group LLC.
Splendora drew post 8 and will be ridden by Tyler Gaffalione. The Distaff is race 10 and will run at 4:58 pm ET.
In the Dirt Mile Moonlight will try to use his off-the-pace tactics to score his first elite-level win. The stakes-winning 5-year-old was a close third in this year’s Bing Crosby S. (G1) and second in the Pat O’Brien S. (G2), both at Del Mar.
Trained by Peter Miller for Tom Kagele, Moonlight is in post 8 in the 11-horse field and will be ridden by Manny Franco. The Dirt Mile is race 6 and will run at 2:26 pm ET.
