Life Is Good, the leading First-Crop sire by graded stakes winners and horses, has a pair of fillies in Friday’s $2 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) at Keeneland.
The duo is bookending the field, with Scarlett Begonia in post 1 and Life Changing in post 12 in the 1 1/16-mile race.
Scarlett Begonia, owned by Hat Creek Racing, Ashview Farm and Upland Flats Racing was a sharp maiden debut winner before placing in both the Adirondack S. (G3) at Saratoga and the Pocahontas S. (G3) at Churchill Downs. Friday’s race will be her fourth start at as many different tracks.
Scarlett Begonia was bred in Kentucky by Gray Lyster & Gatewood Bell and is a half-sister to two-time graded winner Zaajel. The Brad Cox trainee will be ridden by Manny Franco.
Life Changing, trained by Todd Pletcher for Repole Stable, was named a TDN ‘Rising Star’ following her seven-length debut win Aug. 1 at Saratoga. The bay filly was bred in Kentucky by Jamm, LTD and sold to Repole for $1.025 million at the 2025 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga sale.
Life Changing is a half-sister to Preakness (G1) and Pennsylvania Derby (G1) winner Seize the Grey.
Life Changing will be ridden by Juan Hernandez. Post time for the Juvenile Fillies, race 7, is 3:35 pm ET.
Life Is Good was a Breeders’ Cup winner himself, taking the 2021 Dirt Mile (G1) as a 3-year-old. At 4, he reeled off Grade 1 wins in the Pegasus World Cup, Whitney and Woodward. He entered stud at WinStar in 2023 and will stand the 2027 season for $125,000 S&N.
