Say the Word, winner of the Grade 1 Northern Dancer S. in 2020, was named Champion Turf Male at the 46th Annual Sovereign Awards ceremony hosted virtually by the Jockey Club of Canada on Thursday evening, April 15.
Say the Word’s 5-year-old campaign of 2020 was topped by his Northern Dancer victory; he also placed in the Singspiel S. (G3) at Woodbine and in the Hollywood Turf Cup (G2) in his trip to Del Mar in late November.
Owned by his breeder Sam-Son Farm, in partnership with Agave Racing Stable, Say the Word earned $242,516 in 2020 and returned this year to win the Elkhorn S. (G2) at Keeneland on April 17.
Say the Word was one of More Than Ready’s 10 stakes winners in 2020 and is one of his four graded winners this term.
