$275,000 Exaggerator filly kicks off Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Yearling sale

A filly from the first crop of Exaggerator got the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Yearling Sale off to a rousing start when Gary Contessa went to  $275,000 for hip No. 1 at the outset of Monday evening’s opening session of the two-day auction.

Offered by Royal Bloodstock, agent, the dark bay filly is out of Fashion Cat, making her a half-sister to Saratoga Special S. (G2) winner Corfu and Maryland Sprint S. (G3) winner New York Central. Fashion Cat is a half-sister to Peace Rules, who, like Exaggerator, won the Haskell Inv. (G1) and placed in the Kentucky Derby (G1).

Three-time Grade 1 winner Exaggerator has been one of the most well-received sires of his generation, breeding 325 mares in his first two seasons at stud. He has two lots remaining in Tuesday’s closing-day session.
