$700,000 Distorted Humor colt tops OBS June sale

The OBS June Sale of 2-year-olds wrapped up Thursday with a Distorted Humor colt bringing a sale-best winning bid of $700,000, nearly twice as much as any horse offered during the three-day auction.

Cataloged as hip No. 1027 and offered by McKathan Brothers Sales, agent, the dark bay had worked a furlong in 10 seconds flat during last week’s Under Tack show.

West Bloodstock, on behalf of Robert and Lawana Low, was the winning bidder.

“He appealed in every aspect, from conformation, to pedigree to breeze,” said Jacob West. “To me, he just looked like a two-turn, go-win-the-Derby type horse. Mr. and Mrs. Low, their goal is to win the Arkansas Derby and then go win the Kentucky Derby after that.”

Hip 1027 was bred by Three Lyons Racing, HTH Enterprises and Distorted Humor Syndicate in Kentucky. Out of the Tizway mare Tizacity, the colt is from the family of graded stakes winners Bahamian Squall and Apriority.
