Congrats filly undefeated after $150,000 Instant Racing S. win

Cash Back kept her perfect record intact in Saturday’s $150,000 Instant Racing S. at Oaklawn Park, winning the six-furlong contest for 3-year-old fillies by two lengths to go four-for-four lifetime.

The Congrats filly, a Bert Klein and Richard Klein homebred, was trying the main track for the first time after three turf wins, but had no problem with the surface switch, once again attending the pace before pulling clear late to stop the timer in 1:11 1/5 (VIDEO).

“She ran good. She’s now won on both surfaces (dirt and turf). She’s a nice filly and she showed up on the dirt today, which was a little unknown fact,” said trainer Brad Cox, who added that the filly is nominated for the Eight Belles S. at Churchill Downs in three weeks, or she could instead start next in the Miss Preakness S. two weeks later.

Cash Back’s wins also include a score in the Melody of Colors S. at Fair Grounds in February. She has now banked $180,105. She is out of the Klein’s excellent broodmare Hidden Assets, the dam of five multiple stakes winners and a Grade 3 winner herself.

Congrats’ runners have earned nearly $3 million and won 56 races to date in 2016, both ranking in the top six on this year’s General Sire List.
