Constitution colt on point in the $400,000 Oklahoma Derby (G3)

Constitution has 29 stakes horses and 15 graded horses in 2021, far and away the most on the Third-Crop sire list.

Warrant was away fifth in the 1 1/8-mile contest before moving up tho third entering the backstretch. Getting a rail ride from Joel Rosario, he poked his head in front going into the final bend. Flash of Mischief, the early leader, retook the lead on the turn, then gave way to Warrant once again in upper stretch. Warrant dug in determinedly in the final furlong to win by 1 3/4-lengths in 1:50.76 on a fast main track.

“We were a little worried he might be a distracted with this being his first time running under the lights, but I think being on the inside kind of helped him,” said winning owner/breeder Steve Davison of Twin Creeks Farm. “We had a great jockey and a great experience.”

Warrant, who won the $300,000 Texas Derby and finished second in both the West Virginia Derby (G3) and Oaklawn S. earlier this year, is now 3-3-1 in seven outings and has earned $634,700.

Warrant is out of Whisper Number and is a half-brother to Grade 2 winner Ms Locust Point.
