Good Samaritan kicks off his first 2yo sales season with a $300,000 colt

The OBS March 2-year-old sale got off to a very strong start Tuesday for First-Crop sire Good Samaritan when a colt by the WinStar stallion brought a winning bid of $300,000.

Pick View LLC, agent, was the consignor of hip No. 177, while the winning bidder was Tropical Racing, Inc. Pick View acquired the gray or roan colt for $120,000 during last year’s Keeneland September Yearling sale.

The colt worked a quarter in a swift :20 3/5 last week at the Under Tack Show. The Kentucky-bred is out of the Speightstown mare Sweat and Saddle, who has yet to have a foal to race. Her dam Well Monied won the Grade 2 Honeymoon H. and is the granddam of graded stakes winner Will’s Secret.

Good Samaritan, a son of Harlan’s Holiday, was a graded stakes winner on both dirt and turf across three years of racing. He entered stud in 2019 and stands this year for $7,500 S&N.
