Haveyougoneaway wins second straight Oaklawn stakes

Congrats’ speedy 5-year-old mare Haveyougoneaway earned her second straight stakes victory in Saturday’s $100,000 Spring Fever S. at Oaklawn Park, coming from sixth at the half-way point to win going away by 2 ¾-lengths.

The winner completed the 5 ½ furlongs in 1:04 1/5 over a fast track, following up her win in the $100,000 American Beauty S. Jan. 23.

“I was hoping for a lot of speed,” said winning rider Jareth Loveberry. “That’s what it looked like in the program, so I sat just behind it. In the turn, I had to decide if I wanted to go to the rail our not, so I just kept her wide. She was running, so I just let her keep going. She’s getting a lot more confident in herself. Before, she was trying to make her move too early. Now, she’s just really confident with herself and she’s gotten a lot better.”

Haveyougoneaway has now won four of her last five starts and overall has a record of 8-2-6 in 21 starts with earnings of $372,425. She is owned by Champion Racing Stable Inc.

The winner, who was bred in New York by Andy and Susan Beadnell, sold for $105,000 at the 2012 Fasig-Tipton New York Preferred Yearlings sale.

Congrats is the nation’s leading sire of black type winners in 2016 and ranks in the top five on the General Sire list with more than $1.1 million in progeny earnings.
