Hold Me Back gets first stakes winner

First-crop sire Hold Me Back chalked up his first black-type winner on Sunday when Hold for More zipped to a smart-looking 5 ¼-length victory in the $75,000 Northern Lights Futurity at Canterbury Park.

With three stakes horses and six winners earning $212,246, Hold Me Back is a top-10 Freshman Sire for 2014.

Hold for More dominated the last quarter-mile of the Futurity, going from even terms with pacesetter Prayintheprairie at the quarter pole to dominating the rest of the way (VIDEO).

Trained by Francisco Bravo for Dale Schenian, Hold for More is 2-1-0 in three starts while earning $69,800. Out of the Colin S. winner Miners Mirage, Hold for More is a half-brother to multiple stakes winners Beta Capo, Candy Box and Alpha Capo.
