Paynter colt hammers for $250K at Keeneland

A weanling colt from Paynter’s first crop brought a winning bid of $250,000 during the Wednesday session of the Keeneland November Sale, which runs Nov. 2-13.

Paynter, a Grade 1 winner of more than $1.1 million, was bred to 158 mares in 2015 and will stand the 2016 season at WinStar Farm for $20,000 live foal.

Taylor Made Sales Agency consigned hip No. 542, which went to Stonestreet Stables LLC. The dark bay colt is out of the stakes-winning mare Cool Spell, who is also the dam of the multiple stakes winner Coarsegold.

During the first session of the sale, Paynter had a colt sell for $150,000 to TMO Racing. From the Hunter Valley Farm consignment, hip No. 15 is a half-brother to Princess Rooney S. (G1) winner Starship Truffles.
