Paynter filly shows grit in Keeneland allowance win

Bootsy’s Hadenough overcame a tough trip in a six-furlong allowance contest for 3-year-old fillies Saturday at Keeneland to best Smart Response by a neck in a very game effort (VIDEO).

The bay filly, owned by Lynn and Lola Cash and William Helwig, broke her maiden by nearly 10 lengths last autumn at Churchill Downs. After showing her distaste for the Oaklawn Park surface over the winter, she came back strong Saturday at Keeneland.

Away very quickly, Bootsy’s Hadenough then fell back off the pace. Going into the turn, she was making a move, but had to check hard, then checked again nearing the top of the stretch. Finally finding a clear path on the inside, she made her way to the front in mid-stretch, then held off Smart Response to secure the win.

Bootsy’s Hadenough is Paynter’s 19th winner this year, second-most of any Second-Crop sire currently standing in North America.
